Vicki, Kelsee and I found our dream rural section and subsequently developed an amazing design with our architect Chris. To then build this dream, we needed the right builder. We spoke to a number of great builders but Gavin struck us as someone we could work well with and who could make our dream come true.

Gavin proved to be as good as we had hoped and kept us well informed as the project progressed. He kept to his word and was supported by a terrific team.

A number of people have said to us that building must have been an awful experience and not something you would want to do again. We disagree and would happily build again with Gavin and his team!

To confirm our views on Jakes Construction, our house won 2 gold medals, plus 3 awards in the recent 2008 Waikato Master Builders House of the Year Awards. We are also finalists in 2 categories in the national awards with results due late November.

Jakes Construction built our home in 1997 on our elevated block at Tamahere. After the stories we've heard from people who say they will never build again because of the hassles and stress, we can say that this was not our experience. Our building project was one of the easiest things we have done. Gavin was extremely professional and attentive to our needs. He kept us informed and completed the job on time and within budget. That our home won several awards at the Master Builders House of the Year in 1997 was a testimony to his work, attention to detail and overall professionalism.

We later engaged Gavin to build three development homes for us. These also were done to a high standard even though they were at the bottom end of the price range. They were also completed without undue stress to us and within budget.

We have this year bought a house in Maraetai and will be engaging Gavin to renovate this house for us. He has already spent considerable time advising us of possibilities before us even making the purchase.

In 1999 Shane and I decided we needed some renovations done to our small, modest home. What was originally going to be a few extensions here and there, turned out to be a major project, basically renovating and extending the whole house.

We found Gavin and Debi to be most helpful in all aspects of designing and building our house. It was great to have Debi's advice on decorating as well.
